In light of Melbourne’s fashion focus this month, the Melbourne Museum is bringing back Nocturnal for the first Friday of every month with a particular emphasis on style this first Friday.

Coinciding with the Virgin Australia Melbourne Fashion Festival and You Can’t Do That, a new exhibition at the Melbourne Museum, you are invited to work with the night’s theme and express yourself by dressing up in your own street style, couture or drag on the dance floor.

The events will have great food, an open bar, learning opportunities from museum staff and some awesome live acts.

Performing at Nocturnal will be suburban storyteller and folk raconteur, Jordie Lane alongside Ainslie Wills, Sean McMahon with his eclectic blend of folk, blues, country and rock and roll and the wild, unconventional and ruthlessly blunt Hollie Joyce.

There will also be the chance for gallery exploration and one-on-one access to museum experts. There will even be the opportunity to meet a farmer and get some free milkshakes while learning about the Invisible Farmer Project — a study of Australian women on the land.
