Melbourne gets Tom Allen’s new show before Britain does, but only for one night

Words by staff writer

Tom Allen brings his new stand-up show Totally to Melbourne’s Comedy Theatre on 12 April 2027, six months before his UK tour begins.

Tom Allen’s kitchen has flooded and he’s bringing the story to Melbourne’s Comedy Theatre for one night in April 2027.

Totally is Tom Allen’s follow-up to Completely, and Australia and New Zealand get it well before the UK tour does. BOHM Presents has the run opening at Auckland’s SkyCity Theatre on 3 April 2027 and closing at Perth’s Astor Theatre on 19 April, with Melbourne’s Comedy Theatre in the middle on 12 April. His UK and Ireland leg doesn’t start until 23 October 2027 at the Cliffs Pavilion in Southend, and it keeps going until the Liverpool Empire on 16 September 2028.

Melbourne’s allocation is a single date. Allen’s last visit, with Completely in April 2025, was a six-night run at the Malthouse Theatre from 15 to 20 April, and Beat’s review called that show a triumph. This one runs 90 minutes without an interval at 240 Exhibition Street. The Comedy Theatre recommends it for ages 15 and up, with coarse language and mature themes on the cards.

The new material starts with Allen being told to live in the moment and failing, mostly because older women on the bus keep playing music out loud without earphones. At home, influencers are showing him what his house should look like while his kitchen sits under water, and the plumber has recommended a fitting with a deeply unfortunate name. Running under all of it is a suspicion Allen has never quite shaken: everyone else got handed the instructions for life, and his copy came with a misprint.

Allen co-hosts ITV’s Cooking with the Stars and the Like Minded Friends podcast, and hosts a gardening podcast called Pottering. He’s done time on The Great British Bake Off: An Extra Slice, Would I Lie to You? and QI, starred in the musical Titanique and written two memoirs, No Shame and Too Much. His first novel, Common Decency, is the most recent.

Presale runs until 10am on 5 November, and general tickets go on sale at 11am that day through Marriner Group. Fans of the podcast should also circle 9 April, when Allen’s Like Minded Friends co-host Suzi Ruffell plays The Comic’s Lounge in North Melbourne on her own BOHM tour, three nights before he takes the Comedy Theatre.
