Melbourne-based folk darling Maja reveals debut album, ‘I’ll Get There’

‘I’ll Get There’ is out today.

Serbian born, Melbourne-based poet and musician Maja has unveiled her debut album, I’ll Get There.

The release follows recent singles Dead Inside’, ‘Cigarette Smoke’ and Get There‘, which have seen the singer-songwriter making her mark on the Melbourne music scene.

Keep up with the latest music interviews, news and reviews here.

A coming-of-age record, I’ll Get There details growing up, finding and accepting yourself, learning to be autonomous and embracing the unknown.

Maja’s background as a poet shines through in her songwriting, her introspective and brazenly honest lyrics serving a gut punch as she reflects on identity, love and navigating the ins and outs of life.

Sonically, the album melds choral harmonies and smooth orchestral backings, beautifully mirroring the poignant themes underpinning the record.

Her soul-infused folk sound is delicate yet powerful, weaving softness and defiance in a way that is both charming and captivating.

To celebrate the release, Maja is scheduled to launch I’ll Get There at Northcote Uniting Church on Friday August 27.
