People often get our name wrong. We’ve been called many things, including Househates, Housecats, and Houserats, which is so close to Mouse Rat made famous by Parks & Recreation. They’re all pretty great names, but Household has to be the winner.
We’re all originally from pretty different places. Freddy is from Norway, Margy is from Queensland, and Joshua is from regional Victoria, but now we all conveniently live in different houses in the same Melbourne suburb. We sometimes refer to this as the South Collingwood Bermuda Triangle even though Margy is technically in North Collingwood.
Margy’s favourite food is vegan food and free beer. Freddy’s favourite food is pizza, and on our last tour Freddy briefly won an eating competition of his favourite food, before quite impressively losing into a nearby garden bed. Joshua’s favourite food is coffee.
All band members either own or live with cats. Margy’s cat Bowie is an inbetween fluff cat. She’s a shoulder cat who needs constant cuddles, and thinks she’s a dog. Josh owns two glorious British shorthair cats, Jonesy and Snapple, who are brother and sister. They talk lots and enjoy the inside life. Freddy doesn’t own a cat, but lives with a black one called Onyx. Onyx spies on people from the staircase.
Joshua likes to make videos and put them on Reddit – one, called ‘Blimpy Boy’ went viral. It can be found on YouTube and it also features Freddy. It’s pretty dumb, so we highly recommend it.
