Meet the independent label connecting Australia with the Indonesian underground

With a vision to help bridge the musical divide between Indonesia and Australia, Sacred Blue Records are the fuses of a new evolution. A fantastic idea and the fire is already lit – label managers and owners Tom Hulse and Rektivianto Yoewono have already slated Australian tours for Indo bands Mooner and Kelompok Penerbang Roket in May, including performances at CherryRock. An Australian band is also set for an Indonesian tour in June.

As the Sacred Blue brand begins to take stride, the label will also be running special reissues, limited editions and merch for both Indo and Australian bands. Yoewono’s band The Sigit produced one of Asia’s best albums of 2013 in Detourn – a repressing of this masterpiece has already taken place with support of the label. Another feature is Hulse’s blues rock duo The Slugg, boasting a discography including their debut EP Leopard Slugg and twin-single releases Cosmic Cuttlefish and Just Desserts.
