The king of having fun has a plan, and Medium Build is pointing it straight at Australia this January.
American singer-songwriter Medium Build – real name Nick Carpenter – returns in support of King of Having Fun, his sixth studio album and a record shaped by recovery, rebuilding and a renewed sense of self. The Australian shows hand fans their first chance to hear the whole thing live.
The album lands after a stretch of big stages and hard-won perspective, with Medium Build framing King of Having Fun around clarity, gratitude and a lighter outlook, while holding onto the plain-spoken honesty that runs through his catalogue.

King of Having Fun follows 2024’s Country, the breakout that carried him onto festival bills including Coachella, Outside Lands and Austin City Limits. This time he set aside the bedroom-recording approach of his earlier work, cutting the record live in the studio alongside his closest friends and collaborators.
That change of scenery pushes his indie, lo-fi and country roots towards a fuller, brighter rock and roll sound. The King of Having Fun on Tour also stands as his biggest run of headline dates yet.
The trek opens across North America in October, with several stops already sold out, before winding through the UK and Europe and finishing up in Australia.
It won’t be his first lap of the country either. Medium Build made two trips here across 2025, playing his own gigs in Australia and New Zealand, backing Role Model on the road, then joining Alex Warren’s tour with a pair of intimate sets in Melbourne and Sydney.
Melbourne locals can catch him at the Corner Hotel on 19 January, one of four 18+ shows on the Australian run. Frontier members get first crack at the presale from 17 September at 10am local time, with general tickets following on 18 September, also from 10am local time.
