Mayer Hawthorne & The County are returning to Australia this month to wow audiences and make our young ladies swoon all over the country! Get your tickets now.

Michigan-born school soul sensation Mayer Hawthorne returns to our fair shores this month to wow audiences and make young ladies swoon all over the country.

He brings with him some fresh material from his upcoming album.

Mayer Hawthorne & The County is what he calls himself and any artists that perform alongside him on his songs and in live performances.

On his debut album, A Strange Arrangement, Mayer draws inspiration from the music of Smokey Robinson, Curtis Mayfield, and the legendary songwriting and production trio of Lamont Dozier, Brian Holland, and Eddie Holland Jr.

He has quickly gained a dedicated fanbase, and is widely acclaimed for his ability to play the majority of the instruments on his records, along with singing lead vocals.

Few expect such heartfelt sentiment to come from a 29-year-old white kid from Ann Arbor, Michigan, but he has caught the ear of his family at record label Stones Throw, as well as BBC Radio 1 host Gilles Peterson, and producer/DJ Mark Ronson.

"I think Mayer is the only artist in the history of the label that I’ve signed after hearing only two songs," said Peanut Butter Wolf, head of Stones Throw. "Sometimes you just know it’s the right thing to do."

And for those willing to believe anything is possible, be grateful to have Mayer Hawthorne on the scene. It’s not just throwback music anymore – this revival is all about progression.

Mayer Hawthorne & The County play at The Bakery in Perth on February 16, Spiegeltent in Adelaide on February 17, The Hi Fi in Melbourne on February 18, and Manning Bar in Sydney on February 19.
