Manic Pistoleros

And what do you do?

“I play guitar, jump around the stage and wear stupid bandannas around my neck to show my inner rebel.”

When did you start doing that?

“I think at Chopped Fest last year – I decided that a black zebra patterned bandanna showed my inner rebel and sense of fashion. It went really well with my yellow and black Nike shoes and cowboy hat.”

Why did you start doing that?

“Because I’m a rebel – duh! Also, it kinda matches Manic Pistoleros’ fun, kinda crazy western-rebel-psychobilly vibe. Also, wearing the bandanna over my face helps me breathe when the crazies in the audience start kicking up dust like cattle.”

Do you think you’re good at doing that?

“I’m very skilled at wearing bandannas. Sometimes I wear them under my beanie because the woollen material makes my head itch. The bandanna also inspires my guitar playing to become more rowdy.”

If you weren’t doing that, what would you be doing?

“Scratching my head more and playing less rowdy I guess.”

What makes you happiest about what you’re doing?

“It’s so much fun! The shows just blow the roof off every time. I mainly blame Jimmy and Dean (bass and drums) because they sound like a freight train/// so I think everyone is running around trying to get out of the way in case they catapult off the stage and kill dozens of guilty bystanders.”

And what makes you unhappiest about what you’re doing?

“I always feel sorry for girls standing on the edge of the ‘wrecking pit.’ It kinda becomes a big contest between the boys. I’m sure the girls would dig the biggest toughest guy, but often she’s probably been accidentally flattened by him.”

What’s you proudest moment of doing what you do?

“Having a small group of middle aged men ask me guitar-related questions after the show makes me feel good. They’re the ones that are really into their music.”

And your least proud?

“Many a time I’ve attempted to be funny and failed miserably. I’ve probably done that several times in this interview. There I go again.”

When are you doing your thing next?

“At The Evelyn on Friday July 8. Bandannas and all.”
