I wonder if Loon Lake took their name from that TAL episode, The House on Loon Lake. Great podcast. Great band, too, as it happens – three brothers and two friends from Melbourne who play simple, ebullient indie rock with heart-fluttering tom beats and Strokes-style clipped guitar chords. I Loved You Then, one of six tracks on their excellent Not Just Friends EP, is a raw, rhythm and blues-driven lament that blossoms in an angsty, infectious chorus – a real charmer.
