One of Victoria’s premier boutique festivals from the last couple of years, Loch Hart Music Festival has lifted the lid on the first round of artists set to perform when the event makes its anticipated return in November, after an involuntary break in 2020.
Situated a stone’s throw from The Twelve Apostles and Loch Ard Gorge along Victoria’s iconic Great Ocean Road, the grassroots BYO event plays host to more than 20 Australian acts over one weekend on one stage in a natural amphitheatre in Princeton. In the past, the likes of Didirri, Alice Ivy, Alpine, WAAX, Last Dinosaurs and Genesis Owusu have performed.

Leading the pack of Loch Hart’s first lineup for 2021 is South Australia’s favourite sons and died-in-the-wool purveyors of Australian pub-rock Bad//Dreems, rising R&B artist and frequent Sampa The Great collaborator KYE, genre-bending jazzy jam locals Sunnyside, triple j Unearthed comp winners The Spaghetti Stains, regional psych-pop outfit Go Dog Go, and Mornington Peninsula’s latest star Holly Hebe, with even more to be announced over the coming months.
Alongside the music, Loch Hart also promises three days of region-first focused comedy, art, yoga, crafts and more this November, to be delivered in a new COVID-safe format.
“It was heartbreaking to cancel last year’s event, but the time away has afforded us ample opportunity to redeliver Loch Hart in a responsible, COVID-safe format, that doesn’t sacrifice any of the festival experiences our punters know and love,” says festival director Jayden Bath.
“Our spacious coastal site coupled with our intimate 2,000 cap means that we count ourselves among the lucky few Victorian fests likely to go ahead this season.”
“The stand-up comedy hour, BYO policy, food trucks, yoga and glamping will all be back, and we’ll be adding many more unique festival offerings in 2021.
“Now may seem like an odd time to announce a Victorian music festival lineup, but we’re optimistic. While things feel gloomy at the moment, we are confident that by November, small outdoor music festivals such as Loch Hart are going to be all the rage!”
The dual recipient of the Restart Investment to Sustain and Expand (RISE) Fund and Creative Victoria’s Music Works Grants has enabled Loch Hart to navigate the challenges of the pandemic, and continue to focus on bringing an inclusive, sustainable and diverse musical event to the under-serviced south-west Victorian region.
