Limp Bizkit, Devo and more announce Good Things sideshows

Good Things come to those who wait...

Australia’s mammoth alternative travelling music extravaganza, Good Things Festival, is racing towards us, and it’s shaping up to be the biggest edition yet! With the hottest acts on the lineup, tickets are vanishing faster than a David Copperfield illusion, with only a handful of them left for Brisbane, Melbourne near capacity at 90%, and Sydney not far behind at 80%. The clock is ticking, and the Good Things are just around the corner.

And now the festival has just unveiled a mammoth list of headline sideshows featuring some of the festival’s most electrifying artists. This marks the first and only sideshow announcement, so make a note in your calendar because these tickets won’t hang around.

Limp Bizkit

  • Auckland: Sunday 26 November – Spark Arena
  • Sydney: Wednesday 29 November – Hordern Pavilion
  • Brisbane: Wednesday 6 December – Fortitude Music Hall
  • Melbourne: Friday 8 December – John Cain Arena

Limp Bizkit, the titans of nu metal, have been setting the world on fire since their formation in Florida in the mid-’90s. With six studio albums under their belt, including chart-toppers like Significant Other and Chocolate Starfish and the Hot Dog Flavored Water, Limp Bizkit has earned three Grammy Award nominations, Billboard Music Awards, and Kerrang! Awards. They even made their way into MTV’s Total Request Live Hall of Fame in 2001. With anthems like Break Stuff, Rollin’ (Air Raid Vehicle), and Nookie, their enduring energy is ready to reignite the mosh pits like only Fred Durst and his crew can.

Devo

American new wave legends Devo are bidding farewell with their last-ever Australian appearances. Their groundbreaking albums, including Q: Are We Not Men? A: We Are Devo! and Freedom of Choice, took the world by storm. Hits like Whip It became MTV sensations. In 1990, the band shifted its focus to film and TV projects, leaving an indelible mark on music history.

I Prevail (with special guests The Plot In You)

  • Brisbane: Tuesday 28 November – Eatons Hill Hotel

I Prevail has emerged as one of rock’s biggest breakthrough bands. With Grammy nominations and explosive singles like Bow Down, they’re a force to be reckoned with. Their special guests, The Plot In You, have also made waves with their album Swan Song.

Corey Taylor

  • Sydney: Tuesday 28 November – Metro Theatre
  • Melbourne: Wednesday 29 November – Northcote Theatre

Corey Taylor, known for his work with Slipknot and Stone Sour, is a culture-shaping figure. With 13 Platinum and 44 Gold albums globally, his Australian shows will feature tracks from his latest solo studio album, CMF2.

Pennywise

  • Brisbane: Tuesday 5 December – The Tivoli
  • Gold Coast: Wednesday 6 December – Coolangatta Hotel
  • Central Coast: Friday 8 December – Drifters Wharf
  • Torquay: Saturday 9 December – Torquay Hotel

Pennywise, the California punk rock icons, have ignited mosh pits worldwide. With hits like Bro Hymn and Alien, they’ve carved a place in punk history.

Enter Shikari

  • Brisbane: Monday 4 December – The Triffid
  • Sydney: Wednesday 6 December – Liberty Music Hall

Enter Shikari, the punk-electronica pioneers, continue to push boundaries. Their high-octane performances and genre-defying sound have made them a force to be reckoned with.

Behemoth

  • Auckland: Friday 24 November – Powerstation
  • Brisbane: Monday 27 November – The Triffid
  • Adelaide: Wednesday 29 November – The Gov
  • Melbourne: Tuesday 5 December – Max Watts

Behemoth, the Polish metal juggernauts led by Nergal, are synonymous with defiance and rebellion. With over three decades in the industry and 11 albums under their belt, Behemoth’s commitment to defying expectations has solidified their status as legends.

Sepultura

  • Fremantle: Sunday 26 November – Metropolis
  • Adelaide: Tuesday 28 November – The Gov
  • Melbourne: Wednesday 29 November – Max Watts
  • Brisbane: Monday 4 December – Princess Theatre

Brazilian icons Sepultura have been leading the charge in the global thrash metal scene for nearly 40 years. With their legendary debut album Morbid Visions hitting the scene in 1986, they’ve never looked back. Now, three albums into what might be their most potent incarnation yet, Sepultura is a force to be reckoned with, blending experience and youthful vigour in a revitalised package.

Taking Back Sunday

  • Melbourne: Wednesday 29 November – 170 Russell

Taking Back Sunday is set to rock your world with their eighth studio album, 152, scheduled for release later this year. This band has evolved from being key players in the early 2000s scene to genre-defying rockers. Known for their explosive riffs, affecting vocals, and epic choruses, Taking Back Sunday’s sideshow promises to be an unforgettable experience.

PVRIS

  • Sydney: Tuesday 28 November – Factory Theatre
  • Melbourne: Wednesday 29 November – Croxton Bandroom

Lyndsey Gunnulfsen, the mastermind behind PVRIS, has carved her own path with a genre-breaking project that’s making waves. Their cinematic sonic and visual project, EVERGREEN, has garnered critical acclaim. PVRIS’s sideshow, featuring special guests Magnolia Park and Chez, is set to be a genre-bending experience that you won’t want to miss.

Slaughter to Prevail

  • Melbourne: Tuesday 28 November – 170 Russell

  • Adelaide: Wednesday 6 December – The Gov

Slaughter to Prevail, with their uncompromising sound, emerges from the darkest corners of the metal scene. While She Sleeps

While She Sleeps is a band that’s never played it safe. Their blend of crushing metal, guttural hardcore, and arena-worthy hooks has kept fans on the edge of their seats for 17 explosive years. With a long-awaited sixth studio album on the horizon, their sideshow promises to be a sneak peek into their new era.

Hanabie

  • Melbourne: Tuesday 28 November – Stay Gold

Hanabie, the Japanese metalcore outfit, is a breath of fresh air in the heavy realms. With their blend of metal, hardcore, hip hop, electronica, and J-pop, their sideshow promises a unique and unforgettable experience that combines pop, genre-less music, and kawaii neo-Japanese style.

Royal & The Serpent

  • Sydney: Wednesday 29 November – Crowbar
  • Melbourne: Monday 4 December – Stay Gold

This RIAA Gold-certified singer-songwriter is unafraid to bare the deepest and darkest parts of her psyche. Royal & The Serpent has made a name for herself with her unfiltered songwriting and electrifying live shows. Her sideshow is a chance to experience her raw and resonant music up close.

To top it all off, the Good Things Festival 2023 lineup is nothing short of epic, featuring Fall Out Boy, Limp Bizkit, Devo, I Prevail, Bullet For My Valentine, Corey Taylor, Pennywise, Spiderbait, Slowly Slowly, Enter Shikari, and many more.
