A vibrant light installation is taking over the Royal Botanic Gardens next year

Over a kilometre of light and colour.

Cameras at the ready, Victoria’s Royal Botanic Gardens will be home to the massive Lightscape light installation between June and July next year.

Following success in the UK and US, Lightscape will deck out the gardens with illuminated walkways, glimmering trees, floating lights on the lake and more. All up, the installations will produce a 1.5km route for punters to stroll through at their leisure. Even though it’s an international production, Lightscape will still be adapted to reflect Melbourne’s unique culture.

“In addition to internationally acclaimed pieces, Lightscape will commission local artists to create works to celebrate Melbourne’s culture and nature, all at the green heart of our beautiful city,” said Botanic Gardens director Tim Entwisle.

Lightscape will run between Friday June 19 and Sunday July 19 at the Royal Botanic Gardens. For more info, head to the event website.
