Following the recent announcement of an Australian tour — which has since sold out — Last Dinosaurs have returned with more good news, this time delivering details of their next album as well as a DIY film clip for their single, ‘Eleven’.
The Brisbane-based trio’s new album, Yumeno Garden will be released on Friday October 5 via Dew Process. Yumeno Garden, which translates to Dream Garden, is the band’s first release since Wellness in 2015, an album which saw Last Dinosaurs entirely reevaluating their sound and ditching excessive production value in exchange for a raw, minimalistic sound they believed better represented them as a band.
The film clip for ‘Eleven’ follows this approach, with the band’s bassist Michael Sloane filming and editing the clip, with the help of his two bandmates, in order to maintain the hands-on approach displayed across the rest of the album.
“We wanted to make something completely raw and without the usual polishing elements that usually come with trying to make a video ‘impressive’,” says Sloane. “We let go of all that and for the first time I think who we are comes across more than ever because of it. There’s something to be said for removing the filters between us and whoever is watching.”
