The Phantom Island Australian Tour marks their triumphant return to the east coast, with a string of shows that are anything but conventional.
After more than two years away from their home shores, Melbourne’s psychedelic juggernauts King Gizzard and The Lizard Wizard are finally bringing the chaos back to Australia for a December 2025 tour like no other.
Landing hot on the tail of their upcoming 27th album (yes, really) Phantom Island — out June 13 via p(doom) records — this run of dates sees the band splitting personalities across two entirely different performance formats in each city: orchestral grandeur by night and rock and roll mayhem by… also night.

Two Gizzards are better than one
In typical Gizz fashion, fans aren’t just getting a tour — they’re getting an experience. Each city will host two unique performances, offering up the band’s sprawling catalogue in dramatically different flavours.
First up: orchestral shows led by conductor and musical director Chad Kelly, featuring collaborations with top-tier ensembles like Sydney Symphony Orchestra, Queensland Symphony Orchestra, and Orchestra Victoria. Expect a psychedelic reimagining of the band’s dense back catalogue brought to life with 29-piece orchestras in some of Australia’s most iconic venues.
Then, prepare to swap strings for strings (of the guitar kind), as King Gizz plug in for their signature full-tilt rock shows, joined by some of the country’s most cutting-edge acts. Party Dozen bring their wild jazz-noise-punk to Brisbane and Sydney, while Barkaa delivers razor-sharp bars in their hometown of Melbourne.
For Melbourne fans, there’s an added bonus: a discounted two-night bundle at the Sidney Myer Music Bowl for those who want to experience both the orchestral and rock shows.
The Phantom Island tour is poised to be a genre-bending, format-smashing celebration of everything that makes King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard one of Australia’s most fearless bands.
