JK Group and Donald’s House lead the first event on Saturday, April 30 2022.
Nestled in the heart of Footscray, Kindred Bandroom has become a hidden gem of the Melbourne music scene, delivering quality events and gigs across a variety of genres since opening its doors in March last year.
After a rocky start with an onslaught of cancelled gigs and closed dancefloors, the venue is teaming up with Footscray craft brewery Hop Nation (also makers of the delicious Ray Hard Seltzer) to present a monthly, multi-genre live music series.

Hosting four jam-packed nights of Melbourne’s most talented emerging and established bands and DJs, the event will be one of the venue’s most exciting ventures to date, aiming to inject performance and live music back into the west.
The series, happening on the last Saturday of every month, will see the renovated space utilised to its full potential for punters to discover new and established artists and enjoy Hop Nation and ‘Ray’s extensive list of beer and hard seltzer.
Kicking off the first event of the series are JK GROUP and Donald’s House alongside AKA Zeb and Strange Attractions on Saturday, April 30 from 7pm.
The brainchild of illustrious Melbourne saxophonist Josh Kelly (30/70, PBS Young Elder of Jazz 2019), JK GROUP brings together a rotating lineup of some of Melbourne’s most respected musicians from the new soul and jazz crossover scenes to play music that’s hard to categorise, but exactly what you need. Performing live at Kindred Bandroom, expect an epic journey that spans synth-heavy, effected and soundscapes, to hard hitting groove laden with spiritual jazz overtones and no-holds-barred improvising.
Hailing from Donald Street in Brunswick, James and Peter Isaacs are the brotherly duo Donald’s House who will be spinning dance floor fillers on the night. Taking influence from Paradise Garage styled disco, early 90s house, Italo and anything with a DMX drum kit, their take on dance music is as refreshing as it is familiar.
Joining these two Naarm mainstays for the April edition are AKA Zeb and Strange Attractions, two artists who have also made a name for themselves in the flourishing local music scene.
Combining his love of jazz derived and electronic music, AKA Zeb seeks to create raw, club-ready beats using hardware synths, amplers and fx. DJ duo Strange Attractions, playing under their more cheery alias, will be spinning the lighter sounds of electronic music, with a particular affinity for chuggy electro, left-field house and jazz.
Flaunting the boundless spectrum of live music in Melbourne, this is the place to discover new artists and enjoy the freshest pints and the fizziest seltzers by Hop Nation and Ray Hard Seltzer.
Future shows will include performances from neo-soul supergroup Izy and Naarm’s queen bubblegum punk band Cry Club, with more acts to be announced.
