Global hip-hop force Kendrick Lamar has announced a new Rod Laver Arena show in Melbourne and Qudos Bank Arena show in Sydney for his 2022 Australian tour.
Kendrick Lamar has announced his Australian Big Steppers Tour will now include two shows at Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne and two shows at Qudos Bank Arena in Sydney, after the rapper’s first shows in each city sold out in record time. Baby Keem will still support Lamar on all dates, while Tanna Leone will support on select additional dates.
Lamar will be touring Australia in support of his new album, Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers, which dropped on May 13 and features a massive list of collaborators. Lamar’s fifth studio album, marking over a decade since he debuted with Section.80, was released to essentially universal acclaim, and features some of his most challenging and spirited work yet.

It’s been a meteoric rise to the pinnacle of global music for Lamar. Released in 2012, good kid, m.A.A.d city was a game-changer for rap in general. Lamar’s sophomore album, the follow up to 2011’s Section 80, saw the Compton rapper flex his rhythmic flow in a gritty and brilliantly entertaining manner.
Featuring guest spots from Dr. Dre and Jay Rock amongst others, the record has most certainly remained a favourite among Lamar’s fanbase even as he ventured into Pulitzer Prize winning territory. It went on to rack up 350 weeks on the Billboard Chart. It’s the second hip hop album to reach such a milestone, following Eminem’s 2002 release, The Eminem Show.
He’s since gone on to multimedia stardom, featuring in the award-winning blockbuster Black Panther in 2018.
