Jonathan Pie is bringing the end of the world to Melbourne

Words by staff writer

Pie voted Labour and regrets it enough to bring The End of the World According to Jonathan Pie to Southbank.

Tom Walker’s furious fictional news reporter has five Australian dates in February 2027, and Jonathan Pie lands at Melbourne Recital Centre on 22 February.

The new show catches him living with the government he helped elect while Reform circle and Elon Musk works the controls. Pie goes after the far right, then turns on a woke left he reckons still hasn’t found its feet. Climate collapse and AI get folded in too, and the whole night is pitched as a survival manual for the apocalypse.

Jonathan Pie 2027 tour dates

  • 18 February, The Tivoli, Brisbane
  • 20 February, Norwood Concert Hall, Adelaide
  • 22 February, Melbourne Recital Centre, Melbourne
  • 23 February, Enmore Theatre, Sydney
  • 25 February, Regal Theatre, Perth

This time he’s swapping the Athenaeum for Melbourne Recital Centre, a Southbank hall built for chamber music and string quartets. Walker has played Melbourne twice as Pie, both times on Collins Street. His 2018 debut needed a second show to meet demand, and his last visit on 21 February 2020 sold out, so the Recital Centre date lands seven years and a day later. Melbourne sits in the middle of an eight-day run that starts in Brisbane and ends in Perth, with the Enmore in Sydney the following night.

Over in the UK, the show is still on the road until 29 November, when it wraps at Nottingham’s Royal Concert Hall. Glasgow, Edinburgh and Guildford have sold out, along with the first of two nights at the Liverpool Auditorium.

Between tours, Walker has put Pie on BBC Radio 4. Call Jonathan Pie hands the reporter his own phone-in show, and its two series, 20 episodes in all, are on BBC Sounds. He’s one of a handful of British comics touring here early in 2027, with Kevin Bridges booked into Hamer Hall in March.

Presale opens 5 November at 11am local time for anyone signed up to the Bohm Presents mailing list. General sale details haven’t been announced yet.
