John Prine pulls out of Bluesfest due to illness

The decision was made following advice from doctors.

Slated to perform at this year’s Bluesfest, legendary American country and folk singer-songwriter John Prine has been forced to cancel his upcoming Australian visit.

The news was announced this morning in an official statement from Bluesfest.

“With great regret and disappointment, we wish to advise that John Prine has been forced to cancel his upcoming Bluesfest performance this Easter – following the advice of his doctors regarding an existing hip injury,” reads the statement.

“As always, John is appreciative of his loyal fans and friends all over the world and looks forward to returning to Australia at a future date. We sincerely apologise to fans affected by this cancellation and wish John a speedy recovery,” it continues.

Releasing his debut LP in ’71, Prine has spent the past near 50 years cementing himself as a formidable songwriter, musician and performer. Here’s wishing him a speedy recovery.
