The lady with the harp announces a second show
Californian songstress Joanna Newsom has announced a second show at the Melbourne Recital Centre in March 2011 due to outstanding ticket demand. The muti-instrumentalist (but let’s face it, it’s all about the harp) will be bringing what the New York Times calls her “tricky song poems” to Melbourne at the tail end of a tour promoting her February released album Have One on Me. She is also scheduled to appear at Golden Plains.
Newsom was previously in Melbourne in January where she took the bold (and divisive) step of performing her as then unreleased album in its entirety to slightly baffled audiences. The shows early next year come as part of Melbourne Recital Centre’s Summer program released for sale just 2 weeks ago.
Joanna Newsom plays on Tuesday March 14 and Wednesday March 15 2011 from 7.30pm at the Elisabeth Murdoch Hall. Tickets are on sale from 9am Wednesday 15 December. Book at www.melbournerecital.com.au or call the Box Office on 03 9699 3333.
