The Melbourne group, who formed in 2012 over a love of performing live and party music, will now return to their hometown after recording their EP in Los Angeles.
Jakubi originally garnered their success as online sensations back in 2013 when they uploaded their single, Can’t Afford It all, on Soundcloud. The pop hit over 500,000 plays in a month.
Now after collaborating with the likes of Grammy Award-winning producer Eric Hudson (Kayne West, John Legend, Dr. Dre) the band are looking forward to showing fans a more matured sound.
“There are amazing musicians in Australia, but the level is much higher in the US,” says bandmember Jesse.
“It made us work harder and opened our eyes. There’s no better education for something creative than actually being there and doing it in front of a crowd and in the studio. It was a huge lesson.”
