Fresh from releasing new music earlier this year and with a forthcoming album on the way, Jack White has laid down the law at a recent show — banning all mobile phones and filming from punters who are heading down to see him.
“Please note this is a phone-free show,” reads a statement from White’s camp. “We think you will enjoy looking up from your gadgets for a little while and experience music and our shared love of it in person.”
White has even gone so far as to use secured pouches that lock phones away until the end of the gig.
“Upon arrival at the venue, all phones and other photo or video-capturing gizmos will be secured in a Yondr pouch that will be unlocked at the end of the show. You keep your pouch-secured phone on you during the show, and if needed, can unlock your phones at any time in a designated Yondr Phone Zone.”
Yondr is a start-up company that provides a patented system to create phone-free spaces for artists, educators, organizations and individuals.
Jack White’s forthcoming solo album, Boarding House Reach, is due out March 23. Time will tell if his no-phone shows will make their way to Australia.
