Grinspoon
Words by Jordan McCarthy

If you loved Australian Alt-Rock during the 90’s then you had best get yourself to Hastings Foreshore Reserve next Saturday 12 February for Spring Loaded.

The line-up is made for 90’s Aus rock fans with Screamfeeders, The Fauves, Custard, Killing Heidi, Frenzal Rhomb, Regurgitator, You AM I and Grinspoon all set to take the stage from 1:45pm onwards.

If you had plans, change them, as this one you don’t want to miss, after several years of cancelled shows and near misses Spring Loaded is ready to unleash on the Peninsula. The gates open at 12:30pm giving you plenty of time to get situated and get comfortable before the afternoon and evening of rock kicks off.

Keep up with the latest music news, features, festivals, interviews and reviews here.

Grinspoon will headline the event with frontman Phil Jamieson excited to see his mates again for the “Homebake ‘98” vibe like fest full of Australian favourites.

“I can’t actually believe it’s real,” Jamieson says. “You Am I, Regurgitator, the best of the best – Frenzal, Killing Heidi, Custard, The Fauves, Screamfeeder… so you know, there’s nothing really bad about it, it’s hard to hate, and then you get me doing silly dancing and clapping, what could possibly go wrong?!  Hope to see you all there, this is a good news story about how there’s actually a festival going ahead!”

Spring Loaded will have all the festival regular attractions with a park full of craft beer and wine bars as well as a selection of the best local food trucks. The booze making the event an 18+ only gig with strictly no BYO. There will also be plenty of merch available to purchase to help support your favourite bands.

After years of turmoil and the cancelling of events the state over Spring Loaded intends to go ahead rain, hail or shine. So, keep an eye on the forecast and pack a poncho or raincoat if precipitation is expected.

There are still a number of tickets available through Ticketek and Oztik so get in while you can for some 90’s Australian rock nostalgia.
