The organisers originally released a statement explaining, “Inner Varnika began with the sole intent of creating a safe, morally progressive, law abiding festival that allowed people to party without any anxiety or fear from what lay beyond the gates. Our vision of bringing a small amount of artists together and allowing them to play suitably timed slots for appropriate periods of time would have been severely compromised if we had continued with the permissible options appointed to us – this is something that we will simply never do. We have done absolutely everything within our powers to try and actualise this festival for the last 6 months, however the unfortunate truth is that it is simply out of our control.”
To replace the festival, organisers will be hosting Inner City Savanna, split into two parties. First a day party spread across three rooms in the giant warehouse of Revolt Studios with Fred P, Even Tuell and Gilb’R alongside a host of local talent. The event is limited capacity but will be able to accommodate all current ticket holders. Due to Revolt’s early license and the desire for all international headliners to play at least three hour sets, there will also be an after party featuring Morphosis.
