The single seamlessly blends elements of ’90s pop boom bap with contemporary club sounds, infused with K-pop arrangements and dynamic guitar riffs. Baker’s anthemic chorus urges listeners to confront their self-doubt head-on, relegating it to the ground beneath their feet as they dance to the rhythm of empowerment.

“I began to question my purpose as a creative… The daunting symptoms of imposter syndrome had begun to surface. I took a breather, prioritised some time in my bedroom studio, pulled up a new instrumental from my co-producer James Mangohig aka Kuya James, and I just processed everything there on the spot. I wrote and recorded Stay Down in four hours,” says Baker.

Baker’s musical journey has been nothing short of eclectic, from her early days as one half of electro-soul duo Sietta to her recent collaborations with diverse artists such as Emily Wurramara and The Ancient Ballads Troupe. Her foray into vocal engineering and production further underscores her multifaceted talent, as evidenced by her contributions to the ARIA-nominated lullaby album The Moon, the Mouse & the Frog: Lullabies From Northern Australia.

With a track record that includes accolades such as the NT Music Song of the Year Award and performances alongside renowned acts like A.B. Original and Jessica Mauboy, Caiti Baker continues to push boundaries and defy categorization in the music industry. Stay Down is poised to be another milestone in her illustrious career, offering listeners a glimpse into her evolving artistry and unwavering resilience.
