Dancing under the lasers and the trees.
Novel’s A3 Festival made its massive debut in West Gippsland this weekend, combining art, architecture, and techno music to showcase artists like Adam Beyer, Mischult and Amelie Lens. Whether you were a first-timer or a seasoned raver, the event was an unforgettable feat.
The lineup was extremely versatile, showcasing a perfect mix of techno, trance, disco and house. There was certainly something for everyone; if you didn’t want to be at the two main stages in the outdoor area, there was an indoor warehouse you could dance in with multiple levels and podium rave dancers that kept everyone hyped.

The visual and spatial design really created this euphoric and dream-like atmosphere – whether you were dancing under the neon LED lights that illuminated the trees at night or sitting under an installation in the chill zone with moving circular mirrors.
Being there was an incredibly soul-freeing and cathartic experience. A3 definitely left you feeling completely entranced and engulfed, with a big emphasis on feeling and immersing yourself in the music.
Doof sticks in hand, there was a sense of pure exhilaration in the air as complete strangers danced with one another as if they had known them for a lifetime. Not a phone in sight, the crowd turned into one entity at times as they moved hypnotically to the DJ’s beat and rhythm.
The vibes didn’t stop when the main stages finished their sets. Back at the campsite, everyone had their speakers and threw little raves of their own, dancing on their camping chairs and in their caravans.
This is what humans were made for: celebrating art, music and dancing with each other among the trees and the rain. The future of festivals is in good hands.
