The duo’s latest work focuses on Race’s evocative songwriting, recorded in a two-day live studio session that captures the spontaneous energy of their creative process. 100 Years showcases their sonic alchemy through electric harmonica, echoing guitars, smoky vocals and primal beats, creating a hypnotic wall of sound that celebrates themes of endurance and redemption.
Their performances are renowned for their improvisational nature, ensuring each show becomes a one-of-a-kind experience. This approach to live music reflects their commitment to pushing creative boundaries and exploring new sonic territories with each performance.
The pair previously collaborated on John Lee Hooker’s World Today in 2017, a tribute to the blues legend that reinvented his delta legacy through a swirling mix of analogue grit and deep trance pulses. This earlier work established their reputation for transforming traditional blues into something entirely contemporary and unclassifiable.
100 Years represents an evolution of their sound, maintaining the experimental edge while focusing more heavily on Race’s songwriting abilities. The album demonstrates how traditional blues elements can be reimagined through contemporary electronic production without losing their essential emotional power.
The Brunswick Ballroom’s intimate afternoon setting provides the perfect environment for experiencing this unique musical fusion, allowing audiences to fully appreciate the intricate details of their sonic experimentation while enjoying the venue’s relaxed atmosphere.
