Nestled politely on the corner of Brunswick and Johnson Street, The Night Cat finds itself situated in the heart of Melbourne’s live music scene. The Fitzroy venue has been a tried and true source of great music for Melbournians.

Since its conception in 1994, many incredible acts have graced the venue and as such, the venue has built a reputation of putting on fantastic shows. As such, we feel compelled to devise the list of all lists, guiding you through The Night Cat’s plan for your next couple of shows. So grab your reading glasses and your social calendars, and allow us to help acquaint you with one of Melbourne’s favourites.

Experimental funk wizards Steppers are backing up a successful tour with a night of freaky riffs and melding genres to shake The Night Cat with their friends Mount Kijo and Rory Tiganis-Hannan. It will be heavy, fun and loud so put on your party pants and get ready to rock!

Rad Presents Vol 1

Artist and event management company Rad Music will be showcasing their pick of young artists in a night at The Night Cat that promises new music, great energy and like minds. So pencil it in, come on down on May 3 and see what all the fuss is about. If you do miss out, fear not. This is only volume one, so keep your ear to the ground.

Melbourne Stalwarts will be bringing their latest effort to The Night Cat on Saturday May 4 for a night of soulful country music. If their current discography is anything to go by, The Meltdown’s About Time is certain to make you feel, or make you dance, or make you feel and dance. Poignant lyrics, emotionally driven instrumentalism and Simon Burke’s moving vocals, The Meltdown are more than worth their ticket.

Octavian

UK rapper Octavian will be bringing his fast-paced talents to Australia for the first time. Having collaborated with the likes of Skepta, Future, Diplo and Gorillaz to name a few, Octavian will add a splash of international flavour to The Night Cat.

Dugong Jr – Good Time Melbourne Show

  • Melbourne artist Dugong Jr. will be embarking on his debut headline tour with new album Good Time Hotel

Dugong is an artist that is hard to force into a category. His new album promises to go further in bending the borders of genres, taking motifs of dance music and making them his own. On May 17, he’ll be showcasing his album Good Time Hotel at The Night Cat, meaning you have the opportunity to be one of the first to bear witness to it live.

Yacht Rock Revival at The Night Cat

Emma Donovan Album Launch

One of Australia’s most resonating voices, and part of the musical powerhouse that are the Donovans, The Night Cat will be lucky enough to play host to Emma Donovan. Gaining momentum with the release of her title track Til My Song Is Done, her album of the same name will offer more of the moving and emotion-invoking songs that we’ve come to expect of Emma. This will be a launch that will undoubtedly sell out, so please get in early!
