Here’s what to watch on Netflix, Binge, Stan, Amazon Prime and Melbourne cinemas in June

As winter approaches, the time for bingeing is nigh. There’s no shortage of shows and movies ready for you to watch as we approach June. You can catch the next Marvel Disney+ series, a Netflix comedy special, or even a jump-scare filled horror movie in cinemas.

Disney Plus

Ms. Marvel

 

The Marvel Universe keeps getting a little bigger with killer TV shows like WandaVision, Loki, and Moon Knight, fans are really spoilt for choice. The newest incarnation is Ms Marvel, a new character in the universe. After this series, the title character is set to appear in the sequel to Captain Marvel, titled The Marvels.

Only Murders in the Building – Season 2

 

The gang is back! Our favourite trio of crime solving vigilantes return to our screens after Season 1’s insane cliff-hanger ending. Martin Short, Steve Martin and Selena Gomez will all return, on top of that, this season will feature Amy Schumer, Michael Rapaport and Shirley MacLaine.

Trevor: The Musical

Trevor is a musical that’s been making waves over on off-Broadway, and it’s recently been filmed for a release on Disney Plus. It’s definitely required viewing if you’re a fan of all things theatre.

Fosse / Verdon

 

It’s the show with a lineup unlike anything else out there, with Sam Rockwell, Michelle Williams, Margaret Qualley and Lin Manuel Miranda all in leading roles. Fosse / Verdon is based on the relationship of Bob Fosse and Gwen Verdon.

Comedy Specials

 

Over in America, we’ve recently seen the Netflix is a Joke Festival, which has seen some of the world’s best comic minds hit stages. Many were filmed for release on the titular streaming service, hitting the streamer next month will be specials from Pete Davidson, Bill Burr, and Amy Schumer to name a few.

Floor is Lava Season 2

 

The first series was one of the most popular on Netflix, and after a long wait, it’s finally back. Be prepared to catch trios of wacky candidates take on the obstacle course. It’s set to hit Netflix early June.

Hustle

 

Netflix has got a bunch of deals with stars like Dan Levy, Jennifer Garner and Adam Sandler, the latter of which has a new movie hitting the streaming giant next month. Like his hit, Uncut Gems, this will see Sandler take on a more serious role where we get to truly see his acting chops.

Amazon Prime

The Boys – Season 3

 

The hit series is finally back, the Seth Rogen produced series is based on a comic series of the same name, and it has taken the world by storm. It stars Anthony Starr, Karl Urban and Erin Moriarty.

Catch Me if You Can

In another example of how the major streaming services are simply recycling content between them, this Di Caprio flick makes its way to Amazon post-Netflix. It’s one of the most iconic films of all time, directed by Steven Spielberg, and starring Tom Hanks, Leonardo Dicaprio and Amy Adams. See what all the fuss was about when it hits Amazon Prime Video this June.

Stan

It’s the show that flew under the radar way too much when the first season was released last year, it’s definitely required viewing when it hits the streamer in June. The show has a star studded cast, with singer Sara Bareilles, Hamilton star Renèe Elise Goldsberry, and is produced by comedy powerhouse Tina Fey, so it’s got all the makings of a hit.

Diego Maradona

 

If you’re a sports fan, look no further than this doco hitting Stan very soon. Diego Maradona was one of the greatest footballers of all time, and this movie details his journey from Barcelona to Napoli.

The Gentlemen

 

With a cast featuring Hugh Grant, Colin Farrell, Jeremy Strong, and Matthew McConaughey, you almost wouldn’t need the movie to be good. Lucky The Gentlemen is one of the best movies to hit the big screen in the last few years, the wacky action comedy will certainly be one you’ll remember.

Binge

The Staircase

 

Based on the true crime case that found Kathleen Peterson dead at the bottom of a staircase is getting a miniseries. It’ll star Colin Firth and Toni Collete among many others. It’ll be coming to Binge very soon.

Westworld S4

 

The science fiction series is one of the most critically acclaimed, having one a number of Emmys since it’s first season back in 2016. Season 4 sees the return of most of your favourite characters. You can catch it on Binge next month.

Dear Evan Hansen

 

Yet another musical making waves across the world, Dear Evan Hansen is the movie version of the hit Broadway musical. Pitch Perfect star Ben Platt stars in the titular role. It’s coming to Binge this June.

Charli XCX: Alone Together

Ground-breaking pop star Charli XCX brings her musical prowess to the big screen with Alone Together, which gives fans a look at the creation of her album during lockdown, in a process that only took 40 days. It’s not playing at all cinemas, so check out your closest participating here.

Jurassic World Dominion

It’s the final movie in the second trilogy, finishing off the journey we’ve been on with the team in the last few years. Jurassic World Dominion sees cast from all the movies over the years return, most notably, Jeff Goldblum and Laura Dern, who reprise their roles years after.

Men

 

If you’re keen for a bit of a scare, Men is for you. In the classic horror trope, a single woman heads to the countryside for a holiday, and is stalked by a strange person. There’s no doubt this’ll be jump scares and gore when it hits the big screen on June 16.

Elvis

It’s the movie that’s been in the news a bit over the last few years, with Tom Hanks catching COVID while he was filming it in QLD back in March 2020, just before the world shut down. Almost 2 and a half years later, we’re finally able to catch it.
