The lockdown will last until Tuesday July 20 at 11:59pm.

Melbourne will enter another snap lockdown from 11:59pm tonight in response to the current COVID outbreak, lasting for five days until Tuesday July 20 at 11:59pm.

As part of the lockdown, Victorians will only be permitted to leave their homes for five reasons: shopping for essential items, authorised work or education, to exercise for up to two hours per day, caregiving, or to get vaccinated.

Just announced by Premier Daniel Andrews in a press conference, he indicated that travelling more than five kilometres from home will not be allowed and masks will be required in all outdoor and indoor settings outside the home.

It comes after 14 new cases were recorded over the last 24 hours (four today and ten yesterday). There are now 18 cases linked to the current outbreak.

It is believed that three of today’s new cases acquired the virus at the Carlton vs Geelong AFL game over the weekend. An asymptomatic man in his 60s attended the game after catching the virus from infectious removalists who visited the Ariele apartment building in Maribyrnong.
