The Sidney Myer Music Bowl transforms into a jazz paradise when Harry Connick, Jr. closes the Melbourne International Jazz Festival.

The Grammy, Emmy and Tony-winning performer brings his New Orleans magic to the Bowl on 25 October for a six-hour celebration of jazz, soul and classic sounds. Harry Connick, Jr. has sold over 30 million albums worldwide and earned a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame through his work across music, film, television and Broadway. His performance will span jazz standards, New Orleans classics and original compositions, all delivered with his signature piano skills and distinctive voice.

The day-long event features an extraordinary supporting lineup. Legendary jazz guitarist Bill Frisell opens proceedings with his trio, known for deeply expressive playing and creative range. Multi-award-winning artist Ngaiire teams up with acclaimed jazz pianist Paul Grabowsky AO for A Bird is Not a Bird That Cannot Sing, a special collaboration highlighting their musical connection. Emma Donovan presents her new show Take Me to the River, paying homage to soul legends including Sam Cooke, Al Green, Aretha Franklin and Otis Redding.

Gates open at 2pm, with Bill Frisell Trio performing at 3pm. Ngaiire and Paul Grabowsky take the stage at 4.30pm, followed by Emma Donovan at 6pm. Harry Connick, Jr. headlines at 7.30pm, with the event wrapping up at 9pm.

Harry Connick, Jr. remains deeply connected to the musical traditions of his hometown New Orleans, bringing those influences into every performance. His band delivers dynamic arrangements that showcase the full spectrum of his artistry. Bill Frisell has built a reputation as one of the world’s finest jazz guitarists through his versatility and lyrical approach to the instrument.

The event marks the final weekend of this year’s Melbourne International Jazz Festival, bringing together international and Australian talent for a major outdoor celebration.
