The Needle In The Hay Competition’s intention is to get talented artists recognised and give them a head start by offering to have their music pressed on vinyl. With the help of Zenith Records, Audio-Technica, JBL, Young Henrys and Enmore Audio, artists and bands have the opportunity to win a range of prizes from single mastering packs to studio microphones.
First prize is 250 copies of your album or EP to be pressed by Zenith Records, which would usually cost you $3000, and there are lots of runner up prizes up for grab too. To enter, just provide a link of your music to the Needle In The Hay website and then it’s up to the judges. Uploading will incur a $5 fee, but that’s chump change in the grand scheme of this comp.
The judges are Bluejuice’s Jake Stone, producer for Midnight Oil and Regurgitator, Magoo, and Julia Wilson of Rice Is Nice Records. The judges will listen to the entries and choose the winner and runners up. Entries are open until Tuesday August 1, with winners announced on Tuesday August 15.
