Hot off the back of their 2021 double single Utopia/A Shooting Imagery, Oohlala/Paddle Steamer was recorded in Nyora by Tim Smyth at Ghostwriter Sounds and mastered by Mikey Young, their latest double single creates a sound territory of sonic bliss. Both pioneers in their own right within Melbourne’s music scene, the union of Jimmy Pheonix and Stacey Gray brings a distinct edge and unique vibe to all Gypsy Collector’s tracks.

Featuring guest vocals from Baxter Avalon, the synth-pop alter ego of Lilith Lane, Oohlala lays soaring vocals over avant-guard beats, while Paddle Steamer slows it down for a reflective journey through a futuristic ballad.

A union of space cowboys – Jimmy Phoenix of A Whale Called Phoenix and Stacey Gray of Trial Kennedy, Ecca Vandal and Comets – Gypsy Collector are known for their spontaneous creative process in recording and mixing, giving their songs a unique edge that’s guided entirely by their natural instinct.

Oohlala/Paddle Steamer is available to stream digitally from today. Keep up to date with all things Gypsy Collector by heading here.
