As part of the band’s’45 Year Legacy Tour’, Australia’s Indie Soul Legends, GRAND WAZOO return to their spiritual home with a special “St Kilda HOMETOWN REUNION Party” at the iconic Esplanade Hotel on July 25, 2026.
Founded in St Kilda in 1981 by trumpeter, arranger and bandleader John Montesante, Grand WaZoo emerged from the suburb’s vibrant live-music culture and quickly established itself as one of Australia’s most enduring and respected Soul ensembles. Over four decades on and still led by Montesante, the band still delivers electrifying performances that honour the legacy of Soul, while thrilling contemporary audiences.
Renowned for its powerhouse line-up, 14 x piece Grand WaZoo, features an exceptional horn section, dynamic vocalists and a rhythm section steeped in the grooves of 1960s–70s Soul, Motown and R&B – with some band songs in the mix. This hometown celebration brings together past and present, a show that revives memories and the music that has sustained audiences across generations.
