Underworld finally land on the one stage: Golden Plains Nineteen has dropped 25 names for March 2027.
Karl Hyde and Rick Smith shifted from Cardiff to London in 1992 and have spent the three decades since never playing the Meredith Supernatural Amphitheatre. Born Slippy (Nuxx) going off in a paddock near Meredith is the sort of thing people have been idly suggesting for years, and Aunty has gone and booked it. Golden Plains Nineteen also hands Geese their Supernatural debut on 7 March, with Cameron Winter’s band arriving off the back of Getting Killed.
Miss Kaninna opens her account on 6 March with BLACKPRINT, the record she produced herself. Tinariwen play the same day, carrying Hoggar, their 10th album, named for the Saharan mountain range. Peter Garrett has assembled The Alter Egos around Midnight Oil guitarist Martin Rotsey. Québécois double act Angine de Poitrine make their first trip to Australia, Maria Arnal comes down from Badalona with AMA, and Orcutt Shelley Miller lines up Bill Orcutt with members of Sonic Youth and Comets on Fire.

Tickets run through the subscriber ballot, which Aunty has used since 2007. Round one shut on 12 October for existing subscribers. Round two is open to new subscribers and to anyone who missed the first draw, and signing up costs nothing. Winners get a Golden Code to spend in the Supernatural Ticket Centre, and anyone who strikes out still has online sales and Aunty’s Last Golden Chance ahead of them.
A ticket is $549 with the booking fee folded in, covering camping, parking and the whole stretch from 8am on 6 March through to a sleep-in and late checkout on 8 March. Music starts at 2pm on the first day. There’s no afterpay option at the Supernatural Ticket Centre, which Aunty puts down to not wanting to push anyone into debt. Still no commercial sponsors, still BYO for over-18s, still one stage.
Naarm is well represented across the bill by daine, Intermood, Shock Corridor, Tongue Dissolver and Station Model Violence, with Immy Owusu up from Torquay and Swapmeet over from South Australia. French selector Nono Gigsta has the closing set and is getting to Wadawurrung Country without flying, on a five-month-plus overland and sea route from Marseille that she’s currently in the middle of. Uncle Barry Gilson returns to tell Wadawurrung stories, and Aunty reckons a few more names are still to come.
