Gasworks Circus Showdown 2018 is going to blow your mind


If you live in Melbourne, you’ve probably attended or at least watched some form of sporting competition in your lifetime. Think of the fans screaming, the players fighting it out, the stadium shaking at its very foundations… This just doesn’t compare to the magnitude of the Gasworks Circus Showdown 2018.

With eight acts fighting for their chance to be dubbed victor, the three-night competition will showcase experimentation and new works by established and emerging physical entertainers alike. Skills on display range from acrobatics, trapeze, slackrope, juggling, aerial and physical comedy. The Gasworks Circus Showdown is the only performance and professional development opportunity and event of its kind in Australia.

2018’s showcase will display the talent of eight names: Break The Mould present Spanners and Spatulas; Jugg Life Productions present Any Questions?; Totally Plucked presents Totally Plucked; as well as five more performances.

As it is every year at the Gasworks Theatre in Albert Park, the GasworksArtsPark and Gasworks Patrons Foundation present a professional development prize pool valued at over $18,000. The title prize includes multiple professional perks, such as photography, videography, open training time at NICA, and venue hire for future performances.
