It has been 13 years between records, and Gabriella Cilmi is finally back with fresh music and Australian shows.
The Melbourne-born singer will release her new album Pure Love on 9 October, her first full-length since stepping back from the spotlight over a decade ago. To mark the occasion, Gabriella Cilmi has also shared its latest single Pieces.
Cilmi was 16 when Sweet About Me became a global phenomenon, topping charts in several countries and landing as the UK’s most-played song of its year. Debut record Lessons To Be Learned followed, hauling in six ARIA Awards along the way.
The run spans six dates across Victoria and New South Wales throughout October, with stops in Melbourne, Sydney, Geelong and the central coast of New South Wales.

Recorded live to tape with a full band at Middle Farm Studios in Devon, Pure Love leans into soul, blues and classic pop. Cilmi has cited Roberta Flack, Janis Joplin and Carole King as touchstones for the collection.
New single Pieces channels a warm ’60s soul and R&B feel, built around live instrumentation and layered vocal harmonies. The number was co-written with Julia Church, whose credits include John Summit, SLANDER and San Holo, and produced by Peter Miles.
It follows the earlier releases YRU Hanging Around and the album’s title cut, both already picking up airplay on BBC Radio 2 and Radio 4, plus a television slot on Sunday Brunch and an appearance at The Great Escape festival.
Across 10 songs, Pure Love runs from its opening title to the closer Love Me Like It’s The End Of The World, with No To A King, Too Far Gone and You Killed Our Song rounding out the record. The songwriter has framed the album as a return to musicianship after time spent writing and collaborating in London.
