Melbourne pay-as-you-feel vegetarian restaurant is in danger of closing down, so a group of students have put together a benefit gig to keep it up and running! Make sure you join in so you can help save this important non-profit organisation.

Melbourne students are organising a fundraiser to save the Footscray branch of Lentil As Anything, a pay-as-you-feel non-profit organisation that is coming into danger of closing down.

This comes after a series of setbacks on the vegetarian restaurant, including the recent knife attack on Senegalese manager Ousman Ngom.

The Fund-A-Lentil benefit gig will feature performances by Melbourne acts The Priory Dolls, Naysayer and Gilsun, Bangs, Wilfred Jackal, Drunk Mums and Project Puzzles, and every single cent of the proceeds will go directly to Footscray’s Lentil As Anything.

The Lentil restaurants are particularly important because they allow all members of the community to enjoy a fair meal, irrespective of their means, with their anonymous pay-as-you-feel scheme. Through this system, Lentil As Anything supports Melbourne’s homeless population in a way that preserves their dignity, gains their trust, and facilitates social inclusion within the wider community.

It also allows anyone with money problems to eat healthy, nutritious food they can actually afford.

But the lack of solid financial support and increasing rent could take this restaurant away from those who depend on it the most.

Help out Lentil As Anything by attending the Fund-A-Lentil benefit gig, which is happening on Thursday February 24 at the Hi-Fi Bar, 125 Swanston St. Doors open at 7.30pm. Presale tickets are $14 and you can buy them now at moshtix.com.au. And remember, all profits go towards saving this important Melbourne restaurant.
