From Oasis to Metallica, Queen Vic Market is throwing free tribute concerts every weekend

Words by staff writer

Queen Victoria Market is launching Market Rocks this November, transforming weekend shopping trips into mini festival experiences.

The free month-long series celebrates the massive international acts touring Australia this summer with tribute performances spanning rock legends to pop royalty.

Every weekend throughout November, Queen Victoria Market will host live performances paying homage to touring giants including Oasis, AC/DC, Metallica, Ricky Martin, Lady Gaga, Ed Sheeran and TWICE. The series kicks off with a special Oasis Poznan moment on 31 October at 11am under the RK Shed, complete with bucket hats and crowd participation in one of music’s most iconic fan traditions.

The lineup includes Oasis covers on 1 November, Metallica tributes on 9 November, and AC/DC performances across 15 and 16 November. DJ sets, gigs and silent disco sessions happen on 2, 16 and 30 November, featuring music from Ricky Martin, Ed Sheeran, Lady Gaga, Doechii and Kendrick Lamar.

Market traders are getting involved too, offering vintage record walls, hand-signed memorabilia and an air guitar competition. Expect Oasis-appropriate bucket hats, retro band tees and Lady Gaga-worthy sequins as the market buzzes with rock and roll energy.

The series spans tributes to k-pop sensations TWICE, rap icons Kendrick Lamar and Doechii alongside timeless rock legends, turning regular market visits into spontaneous concert experiences. Whether you’re after fresh produce or just vibing to some live tunes, Market Rocks brings Melbourne’s summer music season straight to the market sheds.
