First, Up gave Australians free coffees on weekday mornings. Now, they're giving us the chance to win cashback on food and drinks on a Friday arvo.
Happy hour indeed!
Barnstorming Australian digital bank Up has launched a new Happy Hour game, which allows customers to go into the running to win up to $50 cashback on food and drinks they purchase at pubs, bars, restaurants and cafes every Friday afternoon.
Stay up to date with what’s happening in and around Melbourne here.
All you have to do is head down to your favourite local from 5-7pm on a Friday, spend $10 or more with your Up card (physical or digital) at any merchant in the bank’s ‘Restaurants & Cafes’ or ‘Pubs & Bars’ categories, and there you have it – you’ve entered the draw.
If your purchase is selected, you’ll get a push notification and a sticker on your transaction, within the Up app. Tap on either of them, try your luck and you could win up to $50 cashback.
The key is to bring a few of your mates with you.
When you play, up to three of your mates can boost the potential max prize, they don’t even need to be Up customers. All you have to do is tap the boost-meter in the app and then get them to scan the QR code.
Another very interesting little bonus is that if any of those mates aren’t already Up customers, they’ll get a bonus $10 gift if they sign up after boosting you. There’s a lot of potential cashback up for grabs.
Happy Hour runs every Friday from 5-7pm local time wherever you are in Australia, they’ll abide by your timezone. Each week when it’s live, Up will show the remaining prize pool here, so you can even check before you head out and see how much cash is still up for grabs.
The new game follows in the successful path of Up’s Perk-up deal. If you use your Up card on a spend of up to $6.50 at a cafe between 7-11am, there’s a chance that you’ll get that coffee for free, just because you paid with Up.
These deals are little sweeteners for Up customers, who also benefit from monthly fee-free accounts and very competitive interest rates, pay splitting and automated money management systems, and (the reason this writer signed up) no fees on international purchases, among other features.
