Fresh off selling out the Sydney Opera House and sharing stages with Ed Sheeran and our Kylie, the 22-year-old powerhouse tops a deliciously eclectic lineup that reads like a who’s who of Melbourne’s most intriguing emerging acts.

RocKwiz legend Brian Nankervis will play MC for the free all-ages shindig, introducing a genre-bending mix including Australian Idol finalist IVANA and the absolutely cooked (in the best way) Sugar Fed Leopards – a seven-piece disco-meets-doo-wop outfit that’s been described as “Saturday Night Fever meets Kath & Kim on acid”. Sign us the fuck up.
The festival’s commitment to repping Melbourne’s diverse music scene shines through with local hip-hop artist Amutha joining Indonesian dangdut collective Yarra Irama, brass party-starters Hot Potato Band, indie upstarts Wasteman, and Mediterranean ensemble Sanacori.
But it’s not just about the tunes – the February 22 event is throwing down with experimental sound installation The Plants, Guru Dudu’s legendary Silent Disco tours, and enough market and food stalls to keep you fed and browsing between sets.
Mayor Cr Ava Adams reckons it’s a proper statement piece for the council’s arts strategy: “Live music is a vital part of our cultural landscape here in Moonee Valley, and this event is further proof we are a thriving hub for entertainment and the Arts.”
The fest kicks off at 10am and runs till 10pm, with the party continuing across the municipality through March. Catch the Mediterranean Fiesta at Centreway, Keilor East on March 23, and the Twilight Concert at Lincoln Park, Essendon on March 29.
If you’re keen to catch one of Australia’s most exciting voices alongside Melbourne’s next wave of talent (for free, no less), Queens Park is the place to be this summer. Just BYO picnic rug and good vibes.
