Taking the stage at 3pm, JAZZPARTY is an eight-piece band from Melbourne with Loretta Miller out front on vocals. Saxophonist Darcy McNulty leads the group and co-writes its songs.
The crew started out in a tiny corner of the Curtin Hotel in Carlton, and have since played Dark Mofo, Golden Plains, Melbourne International Jazz Festival and New Year’s Evie. Their debut album Monday Night arrived in 2017, led by the single Rock N’ Roll Graveyard.
The afternoon runs for two and a half hours, wrapping up at 4.30pm. The music is aimed at getting people moving, with DJ sets slotted in around the live acts and a family-friendly atmosphere throughout.
Kids can get stuck into face-painting and crafts in the lobby, and punters are welcome to bring their own cold platters to share with friends. A licensed bar will be open at the venue.
Entry is free, but registrations are required so organisers know who’s coming. Seating isn’t allocated and tables can’t be reserved, so turning up early is the best way to lock in a spot.
Organisers also suggest walking, cycling or taking public transport rather than driving.
Sunday Sounds carries on into 2027 with four more sessions: 18 April, 16 May, 12 September and 14 November.
