Florence + the machine confirm details of highly anticipated fourth album

Even if you don’t love their sound, you’ve definitely heard their songs and, admit it, you’ve probably caught yourself singing along.

The English powerhouse Florence + the machine are returning with a new album, High as Hope that is as intimate as it is epic.

High as Hope was written in South London, then taken to Los Angeles for collaborations with the likes of Kamasi Washington, Sampha, Kelsey Lu and more. The final stop was New York, where the record was mixed, with the iconic skyline inspiring the upbeat title of the album. The release date is set for Friday June 29.

The fresh out of the oven single from the album, ‘Hunger’ is out now. The song captures the experience of looking for love in the wrong places, and how attempts to feel less alone, can often lead to feeling even lonelier. Florence herself talks about it, “I made myself more vulnerable in this song to encourage connection, because perhaps a lot more of us feel this way than we are able to admit. Sometimes when you can’t say it, you can sing it.”

The journey certainly continues for Florence + the machine with this album, telling of love and loneliness while delving into new territory as much as reaching back to old roots.
