Florence & The Machine Announces New Album

Following on from her multi-million selling, multi-award winning, global smash of a debut album ‘Lungs’, the as yet untitled album was recorded in the famous Studio 3 of Abbey Road Studios. We’re talking the same studio that held the creations of the The Beatles’ Revolver album, as well as Pink Floyd’s Dark Side Of The Moon.

Despite having to wait a couple of months before we get a taste of the album as a whole, Ms Welch has released the first single off the new record, What The Water Gave Me

“It’s a song for the water…” says Florence; “Because in music and art what I’m really interested in are the things that are overwhelming. The ocean seems to me to be nature’s great overwhelmer. When I was writing this song I was thinking a lot about all those people who’ve lost their lives in vain attempts to save their loved ones from drowning. It’s about water in all forms and all bodies. It’s about a lot of things; Virginia Woolf creeps into it, and of course Frieda Kahlo, whose painfully beautiful painting gave me the title.”
