Hosted by Victorian multicultural music organisation The Boite, FLIGHT will feature 14 of the city's best up-and-coming performers.
Aside from the undeniable talent that comes out of Melbourne (something in the water?), another thing we love about our local music scene is the diversity. On any given night, you’ll find a plethora of different genres echoing out of band rooms and concert halls across town.
The longstanding Victorian music organisation The Boite aims to celebrate not only the genre diversity of our music scene but the cultural diversity as well. From 3pm to 9:30pm on Sunday, July 16, they’ll be taking over the Fitzroy Town Hall with a wide-ranging showcase of some of the most exciting emerging artists from an assortment of genres.

The showcase is the grand finale of The Boite’s Portfolio Project, a professional development program for artists from culturally marginalised communities designed to help them refine their skills and cut their teeth in the music industry.
This year, in the second iteration of the project, artists from genres including RnB, Japanese city pop, folk, ambient, jazz, rock and country are set to take the stage.
The lineup includes acclaimed RnB vocalist Monrxe, First Nations pop artist Canisha, multi-award-winning Vietnamese-Australian songwriter and designer Minhy and Tokyo-born retro pop artist Jun Parker, among many others.
“I’ve grown so much during the four-month program – from playing my first real gig to the invaluable industry workshops and connecting with mentors that understand what it’s like to be an artist of colour,” says Minhy.
“The cherry on top was being able to form friendships with the mentees and celebrating each other’s journeys and music. I’m so grateful for the opportunities The Boite have given me and for the visibility they provide for culturally diverse artists.”
The Boite’s FLIGHT showcase is set to run on Sunday July 16 at the Fitzroy Town Hall. Earlybird tickets are on sale now – grab yours here.
