The Best of Melbourne Shorts program features nine Victorian gems fresh from their Bondi premieres, each one bringing something unique to the table.

This year’s selection was curated from a massive pool of 3,500 entries submitted to Flickerfest’s Academy Award and BAFTA-qualifying festival. Melbourne film buffs can expect a night packed with diverse storytelling that showcases our city’s vibrant creative community.

The program is stacked with local talent, including Jesse Vogelaar’s Accoladia and Ahmad Ebrahimi’s Echoes. End Pointe brings together Melbourne cast and crew while Different Things comes from local director Murray Enders. The Manic Helm represents another homegrown creation alongside This Must Be Love and Stranded, both featuring Melbourne talent.

Two award winners round out the lineup: Asian Male, 60s, LEAD snagged the Avid Award for Best Original Music, while A Good Boy took home the prestigious John Barry Award for Best Cinematography at Flickerfest Bondi 2025. What’s more, the Best of Melbourne Shorts showcases the finest film talent coming out of our very own city.

The ticket price includes the full program of hand-picked shorts plus a complimentary Gage Roads beer or Rosnay organic wine to enjoy while you watch. Attendees will have the opportunity to hear directly from the filmmakers before the screening, adding personal context to these compelling stories.

Flickerfest continues its tradition of bringing festival glamour to its touring program, celebrating local filmmakers while introducing exciting new talent to Melbourne audiences. For film lovers looking for fresh perspectives and bold storytelling, this one-night-only event delivers the goods.
