A New York Real Estate Agent for Squatters
It’s no secret that New York City is home to one of the hardest housing markets to crack in the US. Ryan Long takes this issue head-on with a satirical take on the excruciating New York property sector. Acting as a real estate agent for potential squatting homeowners, Ryan traverses the suburban streets of New York on the hunt for ideal houses to market to his clients. Coming up against New York property owners, Ryan holds onto his character with a straight face and sarcastic questions about upcoming holidays that fly straight over their heads. You’d almost believe his personification of a real estate squatting agent if it wasn’t too silly to be true.
The Guy Who’s Too Cool to Know Things
Walking around the streets New York City’s Time Square, Ryan Long confronts unsuspecting members of the public with one of his most ironic characters. Playing the guy who’s too cool to know things, Ryan feigns unbelievable ignorance to the existence of pop stars (“Taylor Swift? Is that a guy or a girl?”), Broadway musicals (“It says Hamilton, like a furniture place or something?”) and pop culture icons (“Kim Kardashian? Nah, nope, nothing”). While Ryan’s character is funny, it’s the responses from the people on the streets and how he interacts with them that really make this clip hilarious.
A Day in the Life of Ben Affleck
The most meme-able Hollywood star gets the Ryan Long treatment in this short video replicating a day in the life of Ben Affleck. Recreating some of the internet’s favourite snapshots of Ben as he trudges through daily life, Ryan leans glum-faced against a wall smoking a cigarette, drops a tray of coffees all over himself, and trudges sadly through the streets of New York. Interspersed with sombre music and dispirited talking heads, Ryan’s exaggerated version of Ben Affleck’s existence is both seemingly incredibly accurate and hilariously funny.
Get Rich By Telling Other People How To Get Rich
There’s nothing as funny as pointing out the irony of people on the internet spouting tips and tricks they’re not qualified to school you on. Ryan takes aim at the all-too-common phenomenon of internet voices telling you how to get rich by telling other people how to get rich. This satirical yet meta exploration of a kind of contemporary get-rich-quick scheme sees Ryan talking himself into repetitive loops, trying to explain how to make money off explaining to other people how to make money.
Influencer Not Sure What Mental Illness to Have
No one is safe in a Ryan Long skit, and this time he’s going after influencers. Roaming the streets of New York City, it’s again the people he confronts while playing a wanna-be influencer that provide the comedic gold for Ryan to bounce off. If New York City is full of interesting characters, sure as hell Ryan’s influencer belongs in that category. In an effort to break out on the internet, Ryan tries to work out which mental illness he can say he has to get the most clout online.
