Alex Ward
Alex Ward brings her sharp wit and television experience to the Women of Wit stage. Known for her regular appearances on Network Ten’s Have You Been Paying Attention?, Ward has established herself as one of Australia’s most recognisable comedy faces. The Queensland-born comedian, now based in Melbourne, is celebrated for her personal, engaging style and punch-line heavy delivery.
Ward’s television credits extend beyond panel shows, with appearances on The Project, Melbourne International Comedy Festival Gala, and ABC Comedy’s Up-late. She has also performed at major festivals including Splendour In The Grass, demonstrating her ability to connect with diverse audiences. Her writing credits include work on The Project and Guy Montgomery’s Guy Mont-Spelling Bee, showcasing her versatility in both performance and behind-the-scenes comedy creation.
Jordan Barr
Triple J weekend breakfast host Jordan Barr continues to make waves in the comedy circuit with her energetic and contemporary approach. Her current show Dog Why has been described as exploring the various ways people attempt to better themselves, drawing inspiration from unexpected sources including a dog that communicates through button pressing.
Barr has opened for international comedy heavyweights Hannah Gadsby and Catherine Cohen, demonstrating her ability to warm up audiences for established acts. Her comedy tackles themes of wellness culture and self-improvement with a distinctly millennial perspective, resonating with audiences navigating similar contemporary challenges.
Tor Snyder
Canadian-born, Australian-raised Tor Snyder brings international flavour to the Women of Wit lineup. Since beginning her comedy journey in Perth in 2012, Snyder has developed into a refined performer with multiple Adelaide Fringe and Darwin Fringe shows under her belt.
Snyder’s impressive resume includes being hand-picked to host the 2021 Melbourne International Comedy Festival’s Comedy Zone, placing her among prestigious alumni. She has opened for touring comedians across the country and performed in the MICF Roadshow and Perth Comedy Festival Showcase Tour. When not performing, Snyder operates One Nightstand Furniture, a successful second-hand retro furniture business, and is currently studying upholstery.
Freddie Arthur
Stand-up comedian and MC Freddie Arthur brings her unique perspective as a self-described born-again bisexual to the Women of Wit stage. Originally from rural Victoria, Arthur’s comedy draws heavily on personal anecdotes about her family, mental health experiences, and recent exploration of queer life.
Arthur made significant waves at the 2024 Melbourne International Comedy Festival, where she produced and hosted the sold-out Queer comedy extravaganza Crackpot Comedy. Her ability to blend personal storytelling with broader social commentary has established her as a compelling voice in the Melbourne comedy scene.
Patti Fawcett
Special guest Patti Fawcett returns to Women of Wit after her breakthrough success in the comedy world. The young comedian first gained attention by winning the Melbourne International Comedy Festival Class Clowns competition as a 15-year-old in 2019, launching her into the professional comedy circuit.
Fawcett’s comedy focuses on relationships and dating from a young person’s perspective, delivered with what she describes as the energy of having a friend who used to do theatre tell you about their day after one wine. She has worked alongside established comedians including the late Cal Wilson, Brett Blake, and Geraldine Hickey, while also serving on the Bendigo Comedy Festival committee.
The comedian has become a regular fixture in Women of Wit shows, which she credits as providing rare opportunities to perform in all-female and non-binary lineups. Her rapid rise from teenage competition winner to respected performer demonstrates the importance of platforms like Women of Wit in nurturing emerging talent.
Since 2018, Women of Wit has featured notable alumni including Claire Hooper, Geraldine Hickey, Prue Blake, He Huang, Emma Holland, Dannielle Walker, and Kirsty Webeck. The showcase continues to provide valuable exposure for women in comedy while entertaining regional audiences with high-quality performances.
