Victoria's Pride is shaping up to be a big one.
In massive news for Melbourne’s LGBTQIA+ community, homegrown talent Chelsea Wheatley – now performing as Chela et Cetera – will headline Victoria’s Pride 2025 Street Party, marking her first live appearance under the fresh moniker.
Set to transform Fitzroy’s beloved Gertrude and Smith Street precinct on Sunday, February 9, the free block party promises nine hours of uninterrupted queer celebration, running from midday till 9pm. The event caps off Midsumma‘s three-week summer festival with a characteristically Melbourne mix of live music, art and community vibes.

Chela’s journey from Melbourne’s femme punk-pop scene to international recognition (including stints at SXSW and Coachella) comes full circle with this hometown headline slot. With over 20 million streams and collaborations with heavy hitters like The Presets and Damian Lazarus under her belt, she’ll be debuting fresh material at the street party.
“It means so much to be performing at Pride in a city that is so dear to my heart, where I was able to fumble and figure my way out of some of my most formative years as a queer youth in safety and solidarity, a privilege that goes so unrecognised in comparison to many parts of this world,” says Chela.
The lineup runs deep with local talent, featuring alt-pop powerhouse Bec Sandridge, soul queen Thndo with the NHT All Stars Band and Melbourne’s own disco diva Tanzer. Brisbane’s Dizzy Days will bring their dance-pop anthems to the party, while Beechworth’s emerging star Mieke Louise represents regional Victoria’s queer creativity.
For the late-afternoon crowd, DJ Tinika will close out proceedings with her signature Afro Diaspora-inspired beats across multiple stages. The street party’s visual arts program includes the return of Pride Windows, featuring appearances by RuPaul’s Drag Race Down Under alumna Aubrey Haive and local legends Tilly Capulet and Rosie Roulette.
The Yarra Peel St Park will host projections by First Nations artist Cassie Sullivan, exploring intergenerational experiences through various mediums. With roving performers, community stalls and local food vendors filling out the precinct, Victoria’s Pride is shaping up as the perfect sendoff to Midsumma 2025.
