Hold the phone, the Falls sideshow current has just found its first stride.
Welcoming the likes of Flume, Fleet Foxes, Run The Jewels, Liam Gallagher, Vince Staples and more, this is arguably the festival’s most diverse lineup yet but if you can’t make it along to the four-night extravaganza don’t fret.
The likes of Liam Gallagher, Foster The People, D.R.A.M., The Kooks, Jungle, Everything Everything and Flint Eastwood have just locked in separate jaunts around Melbourne.
At the top of the announcement is a special solo set from Oasis founder Liam Gallagher at the Forum. His debut solo effort, As You Were, is almost upon us but if you’re a sucker for the old classics, Wonderwall, Champagne Supernova, Don’t Look Back in Anger and more are sure to be featured.
Pumped Up Kicks is one of the most radio-friendly tracks of the 21st century. It’s driven house parties, afternoon singalongs and shower choruses for years and its resonance isn’t quelling anytime soon. The band behind the track, Foster The People, are coming back. Alongside a slot at Falls, they’ll be taking to the Forum on Thursday January 4.
When your name stands for ‘Does. Real. Ass. Music.’ you know you’ve made it all the way. The 29-year-old rapper, D.R.A.M., is coming in hot for his debut Australian tour behind his debut album, Big Baby. On top of that, his massive single, Broccoli, has amassed a whopping 396 million streams on Spotify. The hip hop superstar comes to 170 Russell on Friday January 5.
Other announces include The Kooks who recently emerged from the wilderness with a best of compilation. All the goodies are there including Naive, She Moves In Her Own Way and Ooh La – all tracks certain to boom from the stage when the British outfit come to Festival Hall on Wednesday January 3.
Jungle have also announced a slot at the Forum on Saturday January 6. The experimental musical collective blew up in 2014 behind their debut self-titled album and have been hard at work on their next effort. In the meantime, they’ll be dropping Down Under for a special Falls Festival appearance.
British indie rock band Everything Everything are also slated to perform a sideshow. Still reeling off their stellar 2017 album, the band delve into synth pop of the highest order. They’ll arrive at the Croxton on Friday January 5.
Flint Eastwood rounds out the announcement. The eclectic Detroit artist makes deeply personal pop music sure to resonate with punters all over Melbourne. She drops into the Curtin on Friday January 5.
