From Friday, February 9 to Friday, March 1 laugh out loud with these dazzling comics.

Featuring famous names and rising stars from Australia and around the globe – enjoy live entertainment in the heart of St Kilda every Friday night at The National. Lovingly curated by the fairy godmother of Melbourne comedy, Janet A Mcleod, comes Comedy Gold. 

Comedy Gold at The National is set to provide laughter, entertainment and community. The talent at Comedy Gold is top-tier ensuring audiences are treated to side-splitting performances each week.

The lineup each week also provides diverse comedy styles which means that there will be something for everyone to enjoy. Audiences will be treated to observational humour, satirical sketches and musical comedy.

Comedy Gold is contributing to the Vibrancy of Melbourne’s comedy scene in one of our most iconic venues. The National provides an atmospheric setting for an incredible night out.

Friday, February 9

Kicking off Comedy Gold with a bang with a lineup that is guaranteed to tickle your funny bones; MC Kirsty Webeck, Mel McGleansey, Jude Pearl and secret guests promise punchlines and anecdotes that will have you laughing all night long. Audiences can expect topics ranging from the absurdities of everyday life to hilariously accurate social commentary.

Headlined by Melbourne-based Jude Perl AKA the musical comedy pocket rocket audiences can expect a blend of hilarious anecdotes and catchy tunes. Perl draws her inspiration from suffering from depression since childhood.

Her comedy can be described as darkly humorous however it is contrasted with cheery piano music and soaring vocals. Audiences can expect a scathingly honest yet delightful introspective. This show promises to be a one-of-a-kind experience filled with razor-sharp wit, infectious energy and a stage presence like no other. 

Friday, February 16

As we continue into February we are promised another night of laughter with a diverse array of comedians including; MC Bart Freebairn, Robyn Reynolds, Tabitha Booth, Nicolette Minister and Carl Donnelly. The comedians promise to leave no joke unturned as they delve into side-splitting sketches and quick-witted one-liners. 

Headlined by laid-back Brit Carl Donnelly, audiences can expect swag like live never seen before. Donelly has been nominated for the Edinburgh Comedy Award twice and has appeared on a selection of TV shows including Mock The Week and Russell Howard’s Good News.

Renowned for his easy-going and relaxed storytelling and astute observations on the quirks of life, Donnelly’s comedy is both hilarious and clever. Audiences can expect everyday absurdities blended with relatable and hilarious personal tales that will leave them on the edge of their seats just waiting for his next punchline.

As February comes to an end The National presents another stellar lineup of Comedy Gold including; MC Ivan Aristeguieta, He Huang, Nicholas J Johnson, Andrew Hansen and secret guests. Audiences can expect an evening of both hilarity and hijinks, from clever world play and outrageous antics. 

Headlined by “That guy from The Chaser – you know, the one who does the music”, the intelligent, oddball and very, very funny Andrew Hansen. Hansen is well known for his satirical brilliance, perfect timing, sharp wit and musical prowess. 

Think the madness of a Chaser Show but LIVE on stage and more hilarious than ever. Hansen’s performance at Comedy Gold promises creativity and unparalleled hilarity including parodies, sketches and stand-up.

Friday, March 1

Friday Night Gold comes to an end on Friday, March 1, though the laughs are showing no sign of slowing down. We see a lineup of comedic heavyweights including MC Urvi Majumdar, Lizzy Ho, Lehmo and secret guests. The audience can expect observational humour to satirical takes on current events, bringing the event to an uproarious end.

Headlined by full-time funny person, radio host, TV presenter and occasional actor Lehmo, audiences can expect infectious energy, relatable humour and quick wit in every line.

Lehmo is considered one of Australia’s most experienced and well-travelled comedians. He is also considered a ‘Combat Comic’ travelling to army bases around the world and performing for the troops.

Lehmos comedy comes from everyday experiences making it relatable to audiences from all walks of life. His performance at Comedy Gold promises pure entertainment riffing on parenthood, his own life and the oddities surrounding everyday life.
